Magical Candy

Synopsis:

“It is the year 1912 in Boston, Massachusetts. A wealthy young woman (Claribel Sudds) desires to be a singer on the Vaudeville stage. But Claribel soon learns that she has no natural talent as she suffers a horrible audition at the famous B.F. Keith Theatre.

When Claribel meets a mysterious wizard-turned-chemist (Doctor Ezekiel Daws), she is provided help in the form of five pieces of MAGICAL CANDY. Each candy is a different flavor for a different talent -- such as dancing, singing, acting, acrobatics, and playing any musical instrument.

By accident, Claribel loses the magical candy that ends up in the possession of a 10 year old girl (Betty Bostwick), who is unaware of the candy’s magical properties. Mistaking her magical candy to be stolen, Claribel searches the city of Boston for her candy until she is arrested for public disturbance.

Meanwhile at the Bostwick household, Betty and her family eat the magical candy, which cause bizarre and hilarious results as they host a dinner party for an influential man (Edward Johnston) campaigning to be the next Senator of Massachusetts.”

MAGICAL CANDY is a comedy stage play written by Reed Murphy. Based on the fairy tale THE MAGIC BON BONS by L. Frank Baum, author of THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ.

Also, MAGICAL CANDY shares the same story universe of L. Frank Baum’s THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ, exactly when Dorothy Gale was swept away from her home in Kansas by a tornado and found herself stranded in the Land of Oz.
