About Reed Murphy

Reed Murphy is a screenwriter and playwright. He has worked both as an actor, singer, and backstage crew member in various productions with Walt Disney Studios, Fountain Square Players Community Theatre, The Phoenix Theatre of Kentucky, The Capitol Theatre, Arts Alive!, Xclaim Inc. Performance Academy, Western Kentucky University, LCM Performing Arts Studio and Goldenrod Productions in Bowling Green, KY (2003 - 2026).

In 2010, Reed Murphy was a background extra in the Walt Disney Studios feature film SECRETARIAT, directed by Randall Wallace. 

In 2024, Reed Murphy produced, directed, and wrote a special staged reading performance of his feature film screenplay MAGICAL CANDY, which had its world premiere on Saturday, March 23rd in Bowling Green, KY. The performance was also a fundraiser event for the Xclaim Inc. Performance Academy. 

In 2026, Reed Murphy performed as a choral performed in the WICKED: SING-ALONG CONCERT on March 26th - 29th, presented by the Xclaim Inc. Performance Academy. In June, he was a background extra in the independent short film YOU WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY. And July 30th - August 1st, he was a choir member and backstage crew member for A BROADWAY REVUE (July 30th - August 1st, 2026) presented by LCM Performing Arts Studio & Goldenrod Productions. 

Reed Murphy is the host and producer of the podcast series REED’S CONVERSATIONS: WRITING, FILMMAKING, THEATRE currently on YouTube (2025 - Present).
